Areas of Special Interest
Although I have a wide experience of many areas I specialise in the following: Abuse, Addiction, Aging, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Depression, Eating Disorders and Self Harm, Identity problems, Obsessions and Phobias.
...is concerned with making sense of the world in the face of whatever difficulties we may be experiencing.
It is about encouraging you to find your own answers to the questions that you face according to your own values and beliefs. But it may also be a time to face up to things previously ignored, evaded or denied. I believe that our current ways of solving problems are often influenced by past events and how we understood them when they happened. Even though they may no longer be helpful, and sometimes even play a part in maintaining our current problems we unwittingly repeat in adulthood the patterns we learnt in childhood. By recognising these patterns and understanding what triggers them and how we maintain them, we are in a better position to understand our strengths and limitations and our possibilities and choices.
I work on the assumption that feeling safe within therapy forms the basis of our work together. Therapy is a collaborative and cooperative process. It is not about diagnosis or categorizing: it is about the opening up of possibility within a life that sometimes feels stuck.
